Beatrix interview

On August 7, 2022 around 4pm or so Beatrix was hit by a car in the cross walk going from the Mesa Temple Visitor's Center to the parking lot on the north side on Main street.  It was a life changing and traumatic experience.

There really is so much to say about it but I'll summarize with a link to one of the interviews Chris, my brother, did in our behalf after the accident.  He did a good job.

It'll be 6 months since the accident on Tuesday and last week I was brave and felt prompted to do a followup interview with ABC 15 news.  They did a good job.

I shared more on my Instagram account throughout the experience and came away with a stronger testimony, more compassion for others who go through similar or other traumatic experiences, and ultimately just feel so grateful Beatrix is ok now and we are so blessed.  God is good.

It's an experience you never think will happen to you but it happened to Bea and our family.  We had so many friends, family and strangers reach out in service, love, and prayers.  What a humbling experience.

Beatrix turned three!

So crazy that my baby is now three!  She's been looking forward to her birthday for a long time.  On Avery's birthday Beatrix kept saying Avery was opening Baa's presents.  That's when we taught Bea that her birthday is April 30th.  She's been telling everyone "my birthday is April firtief".  Just the cutest.

For her birthday she got the striped dress and the princess dress she wore all day.  Avery got clothes for her birthday so Bea asked for clothes too.  They're both my fashionistas.  She also got bath letters, chalk and twin snake gummies.

Even before school they were out there using the chalk.

We had to go to our favorite breakfast place at Joe's Farmgrill.  So good!

Like last month, I waited until last minute to do my monthly hike so we went to a favorite place, Spook Hill.  It's in Mesa and under a mile but pretty steep so a good burn.  I carried Beatrix half the time and got twice the burn. :)

Elliot was great about keeping her safe and being a helpful big brother.

More chalk.  :)  I need to plant those azeleas (flowers in the back), just need to weed first.

Whipped together a cake box cake and everyone was happy with it.  Went with yellow cake, chocolate frosting.  Beatrix snuck these sprinkles in the shopping cart a couple weeks ago and I ended up buying them anyway.  Perfect for her birthday cake! ;)

In church today Bea was using her normal *loud* voice saying things like "HI DADDY" while Andrew was on the stand, or "MOMMY, YOU DIDN'T SAY AMEN" right after sacrament prayer.  She cracks us up!

daddy's girl

Beatrix has grown something of a daddy's girl lately.  After her nap today Daddy was home from church meetings and he was all she wanted.  I think Physical Touch is her main love language because she's a snuggler.  Especially right after a nap.  It can take her a while to wake up and snuggles are a must.

Yesterday after dropping the boys off at DJ & Sara's the play and going through the car wash she fell asleep in the car and transferred to her crib just fine! Woohoo!  There are always at least two blankets in her crib as well as 5 dolls.  Honestly, she doesn't have a place for her things, apart from shelves in the closet so just put all her dolls in the crib.

Beatrix and Avery are my only kids to suck those middle two fingers.  Elliot and Zara sucked their thumbs like me - all of us our left hands.  You know, Beatrix is actually left handed and has a little lisp.  She's pretty much all of our favorite and we squeeze and love on her all the time.

Yesterday I made Andrew a grilled cheese for lunch with ham and pepperonis, and Beatrix a regular grilled cheese sandwich.  At one point Andrew got up to get a drink and she had switched their sandwiches.  She told him "We share.  You want that one" pointing to her sandwich on her plate.  We couldn't stop laughing about it and how clever and funny she is.  She's going to take over the world!

Beatrix is the best

This was Bea this morning.  She was a handful!  She often is and I love her big feelings and shiny personality.  She cracks me up, and lets people know her feelings and opinions.  She was upset before this photo because she was eating my cereal with me and knocked it over and got milk on my phone and I was upset so she got upset.  Life is never boring with Beatrix.

Last night she was so cute.  All the other kids were in bed and Andrew and I were just talking.  She just grabbed the cashews from the pantry and helped herself.  I took a video of their conversation about who in our family are girls or boys.  She's so smart and funny to listen to.

I've taken more sleeping kid photos of Zara and Bea out of all my kids.  They're just so sweet.  Beatrix sucks her two fingers just like Avery did. Avery used to put her other arm across her face when she sucked her fingers and Beatrix prefers to touch "moley" when she's tired.  Moley is my mole on my neck or Andrew's skin tag on his neck.

She wanted to help with dinner so I let her stir the mixed berry puree that was for our waffle dinner.  She kept poking her fingers in and licking them.

Beatrix and I often go on walks in the morning.  I ask her if she wants to go in the wagon or stroller and most often she picks the wagon.  I've learned to put shoes on her because she usually wants to walk the wagon herself at some point.  We also have snacks and a book so she doesn't get bored.  Our mornings have been so nice lately so it's something we look forward to.  She's also holding Zara's sleeping mask for some reason. :)

^ ^ little helper ^ ^

We all love being with Beatrix. She says trampoline so cute and often loves to jump with someone.

Lately she takes a nap around 11:30 - 2:00.  After he naps she often wants lots of snuggles.  I love how cuddly she is.  Physical touch is definitely one of her main love languages.

When I put her down for a nap I'll tuck her in with a blanket but she usually ends up like this at some point.  That Snow White was a Christmas gift from Santa last year.  Ruth's kids have a couple of those plush dolls from the Disney store and sometimes when we visit Beatrix will walk around with one.

This gluten free cauliflower crust pizza is a favorite from Costco.  We love our little girly and couldn't imagine life without her.  I was only planning on posting a couple photos but couldn't pick just a couple.  All of these photos are from the last week or so.  She's the one I spend the most time with and wouldn't have it any other way.  She's such a big personality and we all adore Bea. 💕

Beatrix turned ONE!

Can you believe it?!  Beatrix turned one a few weeks ago on April 30th.  It actually has felt like 12 months but it's still a little sad.  I love my little baby and she's growing sooo fast.

She sucks those two middle fingers on her left hand, just like Avery did. :)

Zara is probably my number one mini mama with Avery right behind.  They're so good with her!

We've transitioned to nursing only once a day, first thing in the morning around 5:30am.  I'll really miss it when we're done because it brings me close to my babies and allows me to slow down.

We got a Unicorn smash cupcake from Sweet Tooth Fairy for her and a simple box cake for the rest of the family.  She seriously went to town and was just what we hoped it would be!  Cupcake all over her, the table, and the floor.  Oh, and some did make it in her mouth. ;)

With Rupert I started a monthly photo for his first year on Instagram so it was fun doing the same for Beatrix too.  A quick way to share some milestones and see how much she's grown.

I had the best time putting together this video of Beatrix on her birthday.  So much giggling from the girls!  I hope she also looks back on this and laughs some day.
